About 150 cows and 50 buffalos live on the farm in Kirpal Sagar and supply milk for the whole project, especially for the school children. Some of the milk is sold in the surrounding villages. Butter and yoghurt as well as Paneer, the traditional Indian cheese, are produced locally for self-sufficiency.
The quality of the milk is very good, because the fresh fodder for the cows and buffalos, such as clover and grass, is grown on Kirpal Sagar’s own fields. The dairy cows also receive supplementary concentrated feed.
